Yoga Desert Style

This month the Yoga Teacher Training program moved to the exotic location at Anantara Desert Islands on the island on Sir Bani Yas, just off the coast of Abu Dhabi in the Arabian Gulf. The island is truly and amazing wildlife reserve, home to thousands of animals and birds. What a wonderful location to do yoga.
I have been getting daily reports from Yoga Master, Kirsten Chong, who is leading the Teacher Training at the resort. I keep asking if its hot, and she says that some days are a little hot but the resort is set out such that there are many ways to get cool and enjoy all that the place offers.
There is a beautiful yoga studio is part of the luxurious Safas Spa and sits next to the beach. There are sliding glass walls that open up to the sand and see. Mornings provide great sunlight, and the late afternoon sunsets cast a glow over the eager students as the temperatures begin to drop.
Many staff from all areas of the resort are participating in the classes. Some of the participants come from India so for them it is an opportunity to revisit their enjoyment of yoga from their homeland. Hotel guests are participating in the classes in both the morning and afternoon. They say it is a great way to prepare for a day of looking at game or a nice way to wind down after a long day of beachcombing or taking mini safaris.
I hope you will have an opportunity to one day visit this island paradise and not only experience the exotic natural wonders of sand dunes and herds of onyx, but join in a yoga class or two next to the Arabian Sea! Hope to see you there soon...
